How do you use your training from TTS professionally, or in life? I use the computer drafting skills I learned every day.
Was there a specific faculty or staff member at TTS who particularly inspired you or impacted your work? Who, and in what way? Scott Conn (Former Faculty), my Construction and Rigging II teacher. He showed me there was a lot more to learn and that I needed to learn it if I wanted to be good at my work.
How do you feel about the fact that Chicago was the backdrop to your professional training in the theatre? Chicago was my home, so I had been doing theatre stuff for many years before DePaul. I love that I was able to train in my backyard.
You were trained in theatre. Have you applied your training to another field (TV, film, business, etc), and if so – how did your training help? How did you do it? Working at Chicago Scenic I am able to work on non-theatre projects such as desks for HD broadcast, such as the upcoming Museum of Science and Industries Science Storm Exhibit. My training helped me to construction draft the elements for carpenters to build. I was able to do it by going to graduate school which allowed me to access a larger network of people.
What’s on the horizon for you? To continually improve my skills every day, month, and year, so I can be as productive as possible for my job. Getting married in 2010 and starting a family. This is something I am really looking forward to.
