About the new facility:
Located at the corner of West Fullerton and North Racine on the Lincoln Park Campus, the new school will house a 250 seat thrust Studio theatre and 100 seat flexible theatre along with creative spaces designed for community interaction. These theatres will provide expanded cultural opportunities for all DePaul students, will enliven the community, and will strengthen the audience’s connection and public dialogue in conjunction with The Theatre School’s programming and performances.
- Spaces will include appropriately sized set, prop, and costume shops, rehearsal studios, lighting laboratories, and new-media workshops. For the first time since joining DePaul in 1978, the school will have space designed for the demands of making theatre–from multi-media visualization rooms to dedicated movement rooms, and much more. In the new building, students will be able to rehearse, collaborate, and learn in a facility developed specifically for the creative needs of theatre artists. Throughout the building, specialized technical areas for theatre will be integrated with lounges and informal space, encouraging creative interaction and process-driven dialogue.
