“What a season we have in store for you! Every year I get the pleasure of
announcing a slate of diverse and exciting productions at the historic Merle
Reskin Theatre, featuring Chicago’s most exciting rising talents in all areas
of theatrical creation. This season The Theatre School Showcase blends
imagination and cultural impact with four plays: a recent Off-Broadway
hit, Jason Grote’s 1001, a 50th anniversary production of the milestone
play A Raisin in the Sun, and Luis Alfaro’s thrilling update of the Electra
myth, Electricidad. Plus, see the graduating class of MFA Actors in a new
adaptation of the noir classic Thieves Like Us. Come experience the sights,
sounds, passions, and stories only The Theatre School could bring you.”
At The Theatre School, talent, passion and drama connect to spark dynamic theatre experiences unlike any other. The Theatre School Showcase
is your opportunity to celebrate the raw creativity of artists at the beginning of their careers. Actors, designers, stage managers, dramaturges
and technicians are advanced students in the school’s training programs. Their work is powerful, imaginative and new. Productions are visually
stunning and skillfully acted entertainment of the highest quality, presented in the gorgeous surroundings of one of Chicago’s most historic theatres.
The Theatre School Showcase is a treasure at the foundation of Chicago’s thriving theatre scene. Don’t miss any of the productions on our 2009-2010 season!
