Chicago Live: The Arts is a noon-time discussion series designed to provide students the opportunity to meet with working professionals in the theatre, film and television industries. Traditionally held from noon to 1 p.m. at The Theatre School Building on DePaul’s Lincoln Park campus, this program brings guest speakers in to talk about their training and development, past professional experiences, goals for future work, and insights into the world of theatre and performance. The event is primarily a question & answer session between students and the guest, moderated by a Theatre School faculty member. Guests donate their time to share their experiences with our promising and talented community.
Past Chicago Live guests have included Anne Bogart, Gabriel Byrne, Monique Coleman, Jean Stapleton, David Mamet, Brian Dennehy, Andre DéShields, Laurence Fishburne, Gary Sinise, Austin Pendleton, Charles Durning, Julie Harris, Joe Mantegna, John Malkovich, Michael Rooker, Emma Thompson, Peter Falk, Robert Falls, JoAnne Akalaitis, Kevin Anderson, John Mahoney, Celeste Holm, Jonathan Pryce, Florence Henderson, F. Murray Abraham, Olypmia Dukakis, and Gene Hackman, among many others.
These informal discussions are free and open to Theatre School subscribers, all students, faculty and staff of DePaul University and the general public.
