The Curriculum

The Theatre School offers a minor as a way for DePaul University students in other colleges to engage and explore their interest in the theatre. The Theatre Studies Minor allows students to engage in a broad range of theatre coursework and to interact with the talented and award winning Theatre School faculty.

Students receive a Theatre Studies Minor by completing 24 quarterly credit hours (6 courses) in The Theatre School. Coursework in the Theatre Studies Minor must be approved by a Theatre School advisor.

Theatre courses offered for non-majors are available through regular registration and are billed at the same rate as the student’s home college tuition rate.

Courses normally restricted for students in Theatre School majors are available by request and dependent upon space available, appropriate pre-requisites and permission of the instructor. Restricted courses are billed at the higher Theatre School tuition rate, however it is possible to complete the Theatre Studies Minor from only the courses offered for non-majors.

For a complete list of courses available for the Theatre Studies minor see The Curriculum outline. Courses listed on the curriculum outlines for the Dramaturgy/Criticism, Playwriting, Theatre Arts and Theatre Management programs are available by request.

Students interested in pursuing the Theatre Studies Minor must first be enrolled at DePaul University and should contact The Theatre School Associate Dean’s office by email or at (773) 325-4786.
